In the latest episode of The Big Data Show, host Nate Latimer welcomed Oscar Jofre, Founder and CEO of Kore, to discuss the evolving landscape of private equity, crowdfunding regulations, and the democratization of capital markets. The engaging conversation explored the profound impact of the JOBS Act, signed by President Obama in 2012, and its role in transforming how companies raise capital.
Jofre, a top fintech influencer and a leading figure in the private equity space, detailed how the JOBS Act changed the private capital markets. By enabling startups and smaller companies to raise capital through general solicitation and online crowdfunding, the Act has significantly increased the opportunities to secure the funding they need.
In other words, with the expansion of regulations such as Regulation A+, Regulation CF, and Regulation D, private companies now have *more avenues to engage with both accredited and non-accredited investors globally.
During the podcast, Jofre provided insights into the latest trends in private equity, highlighting how crowdfunding platforms and decentralized funding models are reshaping the industry. He also emphasized the importance of regulatory compliance, especially as it relates to the intersection of technology, blockchain, and capital raising.
Nate Latimer commented, “Oscar’s experience and expertise in crowdfunding regulations are unparalleled. His insights into how companies can leverage data, compliance, and innovative strategies to raise capital are invaluable for any business navigating today’s complex private equity market.”

Venture funding has dropped by more than 50% since 2022; the private market is a viable alternative for entrepreneurs seeking funding in an uncertain VC climate
With the latest happenings in the online banking world, venture capital funding is uncertain for the short term. Yet challenging times are when capital for innovation and development is needed most, leading companies at all stages to evaluate a different alternative for capital: the private market.
Venture capital refers to investments made by venture capital firms, typically in early-stage startups or companies with high growth potential. Private capital, on the other hand, can come from a variety of sources, such as high-net-worth individuals, family offices, or private equity firms. These investments are made in countless industries and stages of development.
Another difference that may lead entrepreneurs to opt for private capital is that, in most cases, venture capital firms take an active role in the management, while private capital investors do not – which allows entrepreneurs to retain control.
Oscar A Jofre, Co-founder and CEO of KoreConX, explains. “Using digital platforms to raise funds from investors through JOBS Act regulations, companies have access to the exemptions from SEC registration such as RegA+, RegCF, RegD, and RegS, reaching a larger pool of investors beyond traditional VCs and private equity firms. These investments can be accessed by anyone, regardless of their net worth or accreditation status, and at any time, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year”. The SEC reports that $4.5T was raised in the private capital markets in 2022, of which the new JOBS Act regulations (RegCF, RegA+, RegD) accounted for $150.9B.
Online capital formation platforms allow greater transparency, giving investors more information about an offering before they commit to investing in a particular business. This allows investors to make more informed decisions and reduces the risks associated with investing. Online platforms also typically charge lower fees than traditional VCs and private equity firms, making it a more cost-effective way to raise funds.
Taken together, these advantages make online capital formation through RegA+, RegCF, RegS, or RegD attractive, viable alternatives to traditional venture capital for companies looking to access a wider pool of investors quickly and efficiently and with greater transparency.

The final panel will bring experts on Real Estate to talk about their relevant experience in the business.
Oscar A Jofre stresses how firmly he believes in Real Estate: “It is time to deeply explore and discover how entrepreneurs and investors can profit from the JOBS Act regulations. The event is an opportunity to show how raising money online differs from traditional methods of capital raising. It begins with a basic overview of the new regulatory regime, the requirements to invest, and the onboarding process one should expect. Then, the guests dive deeper into the market opportunity, including how to access and select investments, and the expectations investors should set for themselves and the projects they select. This is not intended to support any specific deal selection, but instead sheds light upon the basic selection criteria available, the proper approach to investing, and what to avoid.
This webinar focuses on the kinds of opportunities that crowdfunding makes available to the investor, and how the investor should go about navigating this new world. As Oscar explains, “Crowdfunding creates opportunities for companies and investors. From an investor perspective, it is necessary to understand the possibilities and limitations of this kind of investment to assure a positive experience for all parties involved”.

As businesses in the cannabis sector seek ways to expand, KoreConX has been leading initiatives on educating entrepreneurs in this business on how to raise capital compliantly, with low costs
NEW YORK, October 18, 2022 (Newswire.com) – KoreConX CEO Oscar A. Jofre is speaking at two cannabis events in the upcoming days. The focus of his participation will be on the exemptions of the JOBS Act, like Regulation A+ and Regulation CF, which are useful ways for cannabis companies to turn their brand advocates into shareholders.
The first event, Leading Professionals to Teach About Crowdfunding 2022, takes place on Oct. 20 and is part of the Financial Poise Webinars. This webinar addresses crowdfunding portals and intermediaries, with a basic overview of the various methods of crowdfunding, from donation and rewards-based, through intrastate equity, debt, and finally to securities-based crowdfunding under Titles II, III and IV of the JOBS Act. Once those differences are understood, the webinar focuses on the need for intermediaries, the role that they can and sometimes must play, followed by a discussion on how the market has matured and where the market may be going in the online capital space. Oscar will be joined by Maureen Murat (Crowdie Advisors, LLC) and Jordan Fishfeld (CFX Markets).
The second, from Oct. 19-21, is organized by a KorePartner, Arcview Capital. The Arcview Access Cannabis Investment Summit will feature industry experts, investors, and enthusiasts to discuss industry opportunities and how entrepreneurs can scale their businesses. On the 21st, Oscar will be part of the panel Debunking the Myths Around Crowdfunding, with Arcview Capital Managing Director Chris Reece. There, Oscar will discuss the operational aspects that go into getting a raise live and share best practices to put companies on track to a successful raise.
As a thought leader focused on educating entrepreneurs, Oscar A. Jofre is thrilled to be part of these two speaking engagements: “KoreConX has a mission to empower entrepreneurs through private capital markets. The cannabis market has been rapidly changing with growing demands. We can help entrepreneurs fulfill these needs as we will show them how to start this private equity journey in a compliant way.”

Whether these companies are using RegA+, RegCF or RegD, they are now able to accept investments via credit cards from investors using KoreConX All-In-One Platform, without the abusive high fees normally charged from companies in this sector
NEW YORK, October 17, 2022 (Newswire.com) – KoreConX’s innovative approach to the cannabis ecosystem enables companies to raise money by accepting credit cards. It sounds like a simple solution, but it can actually revolutionize how the sector operates. Using the exemptions of Regulation A+, Regulation CF or Regulation D, companies can easily turn their customers and brand advocates into shareholders.
KoreConX has enabled credit card acceptance and escrow providers in their platform, ending the issue of high fees that were traditionally charged from this sector due to a perceived higher risk and lack of nationwide legalization, especially in the USA. Although legal for medicinal and adult recreational use in some states, there are still obstacles that cannabis companies face regarding their capital needs.
Nonetheless, President Joe Biden’s announcement that all federal convictions for simple marijuana possession were to be pardoned is a milestone in the continued growth of the cannabis sector. According to Grand View Research Institute, market size was valued at USD 13.2 billion in 2021 and USD 16.7 billion in 2022, with a revenue forecast of USD 102.2 billion for 2030, which would represent a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 25.5% from 2022 to 2030.
Secure platform
Companies in the cannabis sector had found it difficult to raise capital in the traditional capital markets, making the private capital market a more viable option. KoreConX All-In-One Platform uses its proprietary solution based on blockchain – the KoreChain – to make transactions and shareholder management safe for investors and entrepreneurs.
“Our Platform can be integrated with the company’s URL, making it user-friendly and reducing the risk of taking users to other websites,” explains Oscar Jofre, CEO and co-founder of KoreConX. The innovation for the cannabis ecosystem is the possibility to make customers into shareholders, by making investing easy. “Our partnership with SecureTranz allows the credit card use, as well as providing options to complement wire transfer, ACH and crypto payments,” explains Oscar.
KoreSummit
In a clear display of support for the sector, KoreConX is putting together a team of specialists in their next KoreSummit – Pocket Sessions | Empowering Growth. Covering topics from the preparations to the offering promotion, and choosing the best regulation, panels with sector experts will be available daily, from Oct. 24 to 28. KoreConX and Cannabis Wiki are now working closely together to help the cannabis sector grow. Through RegA+ or RegCF, these companies can raise up to $75 million or $5 million respectively every 12 months. Cannabis Wiki and KoreConX will start a series of content products to help educate these entrepreneurs.
The cannabis sector has been growing steadily in the past few years. Derrick Berney, CEO and co-founder of Cannabis Wiki, is excited to see this partnership grow: “No one does what KoreConX does. Their materials, blogs, podcasts, they are really changing the way startups raise capital and the cannabis sector needs it. With their expertise and our years of service to the sector, we are positive we can cause a great effect on the whole ecosystem, create new jobs, expand revenues, and keep everything compliantly done”. Cannabis Wiki has currently over 2 million pageviews/month.
A number of studies show that derivatives from cannabis have been successfully used to treat patients with chronic pain, chemotherapy-induced nausea, and several neurological diseases. As well, Canada and more than two-thirds of the U.S.A. states have legalized its recreational use.
Oscar Jofre, CEO and co-founder of KoreConX, is thrilled to start this new partnership. “Cannabis companies need to raise money, and there is plenty of it, both from accredited and non-accredited investors. We can help educate these companies and they can reach their audiences, their brand advocates, and turn them into shareholders in an easy way”.

The arrival of Arcview Capital as a new KorePartner opens new possibilities for the promising cannabis sector. Companies raising capital or investors can now rely on technology, market leadership and security to operate in this area
NEW YORK, September 29, 2022 (Newswire.com) – KoreConX unveils a new partnership that connects the technology available inside the KoreConx All-In-One Platform with the broker-dealer expertise provided by Arcview Capital in the cannabis industry.
It is known that President Biden discussed marijuana matters at Labor Day meetings. Some reasons for that may be found among some interesting numbers: according to Cannabis Business Times, annual global cannabis sales will grow from $30 billion in 2021 to $57 billion in 2026, a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of almost 13%. In the United States, cannabis sales will grow from $25 billion in 2021 to $42 billion in 2026, which will make up 75% of total global cannabis sales.
Oscar Jofre, CEO and co-founder of KoreConX, is excited to see the expanding possibilities: “It is time to take this discussion – and the companies around it – to another level. Whether we are debating medical or adult use, there is a market with great opportunities for investors, entrepreneurs and researchers,” says Oscar Jofre.
Brian MacDonald, Managing Director at Arcview Capital, is thrilled to be part of this new blockchain-based reliable ecosystem as a new KorePartner. “As broker-dealers, it is more than fundamental that we can partner with important players like KoreConX. We share the same beliefs, same market understanding, and we are happy to witness the creation of more jobs, more research, and the empowerment of startups, making our economy stronger and more solid.”
Cannabis companies can use the exemptions from the JOBS Act to raise money using either Regulation A (RegA+), which enables companies to raise up to $75 million every 12 months, or $5 million through Regulation CF (RegCF). This is a special opportunity for this sector, considering that non-accredited investors, such as brand advocates, can become shareholders and partners of companies they support.

[New York City, NY – 23rd September 2022] – Today, Oscar A Jofre, CEO and Co-Founder of KoreConX, will moderate the panel “How The Crowd, VCs & Family Offices Can Join Forces to Fund Breakthrough Medical Technologies”, from 1:10-1:50 pm, in Hertfordshire, United Kingdom.
Oscar will be joined by panelists Joseph McGinley (Founder & CEO, McGinley Orthopedics), Marc Giroux (CEO, Kurve Therapeutics), Peter Kassel (CEO, HealthySole) and Douglas Ruark (President, Regulation D Resources).
“The LSI Emerging Medtech Summit is the best way to put important players closer together in order to fund medical technologies. When we think of innovation, we always think of big pharmaceutical companies investing a lot of money for years to get results, but there are plenty of startups looking for funds, which can definitely be provided from crowdfunding, VCs and family offices, so why not?”, explains Oscar A Jofre, who has been working on educating entrepreneurs on how to raise capital using the exemptions from the JOBS Act, such as Regulation A and Regulation CF.

With a single click, The KoreID credentials allow the user to be identified by regulated participants, without filling out online investment forms
KoreConX launches today its cutting-edge innovation for online investment: KoreID. With KoreChain, a permission-based blockchain technology, this release changes forever how online investments are made, avoiding the risk of typos and reducing investor frustration from having to fill forms again and again.
The volume of information required from the investors can make filling out an investment application a discouraging chore, which can lead to delays in completing an investment when the needed information isn’t readily at hand, or even abandoning an application entirely. This is what KoreConX refers to as investor fatigue.
To be eligible to display the KoreID icon, companies must show their SEC filings; broker-dealers, their CRD registration; banks and funding portals must be in good standing with FINRA. KoreConX provides the login interface embedded into the web pages that use the All-In-One Platform. When a user transacts from any of these participants in our global ecosystem, they’re actually creating for themselves a KoreID, kept secure in KoreConX’s KoreChain, a permission-based blockchain, and gaining the Passport to online investing.
How it works
Wherever an individual sees the KoreID icon within the compliant KoreConX ecosystem – a company investment website, an SEC-Registered funding platform, a broker-dealer website, a bank – the regulated investment forms can be filled in almost instantaneously. All the information is only provided as needed and as authorized by the individual. The regulated platform will automatically detect that the individual already has a KoreID. As soon as the credential is recognized, it will automatically prompt them to log in using the KoreID.
More investors
Dr. Kiran Garimella, Chief Scientist and Technology Officer of KoreConX All-In-One Platform, is excited to see KoreID live and how it will affect companies and investors, potentially stimulating more people to join the private capital market: “Without the friction and the time wasted in redundant forms, investors will recall their already certified information with a single click. KoreID will motivate individuals to reinvest easily, at first, but also to accelerate new investors coming in. We are finally able to utilize blockchain to manage information and have a positive impact in the capital markets.”
